Among our favorites added to the lineup are new incarnations of the fan favorite style Milan, appropriately named the Milan 3 and Milan 4. The same shape and proportions as the Milan except featuring only a single bridge, offering a more minimalist contemporary take.

An original Illesteva design, the Milan 3 is a rounded acetate and metal frame with just a single “extra” top bridge. Its even more modern than the Milan 1 and 2, yet still very wearable.

It is with bittersweet sentiments that we present the collaboration between Illesteva and the recently departed icon Lou Reed.  We received these shades just prior to Reed’s untimely passing and were a bit conflicted how to proceed.   As longtime fans of Reed, and given the fact that he was so involved in every detail that went into the design of these sunglasses, we felt it would be a disservice not to release them to the public as he intended.

Originator, poet, and rock star are just a few of the phrases used to describe native New Yorker Lou Reed — Founder and pioneering front man of the rock band The Velvet Underground and undoubtedly one of the most influential musicians of all-time.

New York based Illesteva couldn’t have asked for a better individual to work with, and as Daniel Silberman (Illesteva founder) phrases it, Reed was a “dream collaborator.”
Throughout his career, Reed was an avid sunglass wearer always sporting a pair of signature shades, so it was with joy that he helped to create his own. The “Lou Reed for Illesteva” capsule collection features two timeless styles, an acetate frame and a metal aviator.  Handmade in Italy, each design is available in an assortment of colors ranging from the classic to those with colored mirrored lenses.

Keeping our visually challenged friends cool this summer season, ILLESTEVA releases two new Clip-On designs: “Felix” and “Capri”.

At the core of clip-on sunglasses is their utility — as they can be fitted with an RX and worn as standard eyeglasses, then when you go out into the sun, the sunglass lenses can quickly be clipped on — giving you two uses with a single frame. However, even if you only plan to wear as a sunglass, it still undoubtedly makes for a unique and sophisticated piece.

The “Felix” is a classic squared off design with unique contemporary embossed detailing throughout, while the “Capri” is a refined and timeless P3 shape. Each frame comes complete with a silver metal clip-on with dark grey lenses.

To get you in the summer spirit, Illesteva releases their signature Leonard sunglasses in a series of full-on colored mirror lenses.

Vibrant Green, Blue, Purple, or Pink, there is an assortment of mirror colors to choose from — each available with either a matte black frame or a Crystal frame with Havana temples.  Worth noting the lenses will show different hues depending on the angle the light catches it, for example: green becomes aqua/blue.

From a technical aspect mirror lenses reduce glare while retaining contrast, perfect for driving, days on the ocean, or where ever your travels might lead.

New York based eyewear label ILLESTEVA joins forces with Manhattan born fashion designer Zac Posen for a special edition sunglass.

The frame simply entitled “3”, for the third design creation between them, is a stunning and sleek cat eye design. It features a unique exaggerated up-line with rounded corners for a one of kind sexy style that is both nostalgic and fashion forward simultaneously.  Handmade in France in limited quantities, it is available in 5 delectable colorways ranging from classic black or tortoise to a signature Safari print.

The Illesteva Murdoch has an old-school nostalgic flavor — it is a timeless 1950’s/60’s design perfectly executed.  Handmade in Italy, it features thick and chunky acetate, and real riveted 5-barrell hinges for strength and durability. For those familiar with the popular Leonard model, the Murdoch has the same great proportions in a more sqaured off shape.  This is a classic piece which works really well on both men and women alike, and is a staple style for any wardrobe ensemble. Available in three colors: “Champagne”, Matte Black, and Tortoise.

Wear it as a sunglass or an eyeglass — The Illesteva Lenox features a detachable metal sunglass clip which can easily be taken off.  So you can fit them with a prescription and wear them as an eyeglass, then quickly clip on the tinted lenses when you step into the sun. The “Leonard Wood”, as the name suggests is a variation of the popular Leonard style hand-carved entirely from wood or technically, light weight renewable Bamboo to be precise.  Other notable features include polarized lenses which virtually eliminate the effects of glare that bounces off reflective surfaces.
