Garrett Leight X Thierry Lasry … Paris Meets Los Angeles, No. 2 – Limited Edition is now available.

Los Angeles based Garrett Leight California Optical and renowned Parisian eyewear brand Thierry Lasry, are back for their second limited edition collaborative release for winter 2013/2014.  Rarely do you see two direct eyewear brands get together, but when they do it is usually something special, especially when these two are involved (both long time brands here at Eyegoodies).

Revisiting the success of their previous collaboration, the latest incarnation draws inspiration from each designer’s home city  — with each seamlessly incorporating their own signature style. The sunglass, simply named “Number 2″ (for their second collaboration), takes a classic shape and imparts a deconstructed twist.   Available in four main colors, each of which features blue acetate components at the bridge and temples which showcase the exposed hand-drilled rivets and screws.

To commemorate the collaboration Garrett Leight and Thierry Lasry invited Los Angeles based artist Ashkahn to design a special edition box and carrying pouch as his own interpretation of each of the respective cities.

Drawing inspiration from one another’s home towns, Los Angeles based Garrett Leight and Parisian eyewear brand Thierry Lasry team up for their first limited edition collaborative release.

The sunglass, entitled ‘Number 1′, goes from strength to strength as each designer imparts their own signature style seamlessly.  It combines the clean and classic aesthetic of Garrett Leight with the bolder vibrant colors Thierry Lasry is renowned for.

The Number 1 is a very versatile piece offering the best of two worlds.  It features easily removable metal clip-on mirrored lenses, so you can achieve two very different looks with a single sunglass. Wear it with the clip off for a subtle timeless style, or quickly clip on the colored mirrored lenses for a more eye-catching appeal or just to switch it up.   Also it should be noted, the frame has excellent proportions and tends to fit virtually all faces, both men and women, extremely well.

The latest collaboration from Thierry Lasry is now available. Supply Limited.

Two years after the success of their first collaboration, Thiery Lasry once again teams up with French music band Liquid Architecture and French artist Thomas Lelu, to design a serious limited edition frame, entitled the “Liquid 2″.

These aren’t your fathers aviators. The new Liquid 2 from Thierry Lasry is a substantial plastic aviator with a unique “W” bridge and is offered in three fresh trims: black, white, and red.  The trim is not only on the temple tips but also surrounding the hinge, which makes for quite a nice touch.  It comes complete with a special edition drawstring carrying pouch (designed by Thomas Lelu) in the same color as the frame trim.

Part of Super’s special projects, meant to signify their top range models which are produced in extra limited quantity, Super releases the Ilaria.
The Ilaria transforms the Lucia model with the use of classic havana acetate and gold metal. The havana elegantly dresses the front of the frame and the temple tips while the gold metal gives it a rich contrast. Especially unique to the Ilaria is the gold metal which also outlines the lenses, really highlighting their round shape, as well as providing greater structural integrity.

Thierry Lasry collaborates with French design house L’Ecurie(known for translating movement into design and their one of a kind auto customizations) to create a truly unique piece of eyewear that blends both their passions seamlessly. The frame, appropriately named “The Seventy Nine”, revives the cool styling of the glasses worn by late legend Paul Newman when he participated in the famed “24 Heures du Mans” race in 1979 (finishing second and winning the Imsa class).  Featured above in tortoise with white accents(also available in black, blue, red)

Han doesn’t follow trends, but does follow classic design principles.
Han Kjobenhavn eyewear, simply called Han, was born May 1st 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ksubi is quite possibly Australia’s most iconic fashion brand, which was first created in 2000 by Dan Single and George Gorrow. George having a love of all things eyewear knew this was a natural progression for the line. The collection is simple yet built with an eclectic mix of styles, inspired by pop comic, steam punk and vintage, creating a contrasting but unified & original look.

Born the son of a designer and optician, creating his own line of eyewear was a natural and perfect progression. The self entitled brand “Thierry Lasry”, launched in 2006, takes a very fresh avant-garde approach to sunglasses.  Based off the concept of “futuristic-vintage” they utilize vintage designs and color palettes, but incorporate an updated modern touch with a surprising ease.

All Hand-Made in France, Thierry Lasry sunglasses use only the best materials.  You can just feel the difference in quality. Due to the optical background of the designer they also pay close attention to fit.  These are far from your average “look-alike” shades, you can tell the thought that goes into each and every truly stunning piece.  You will find no big emblems or logo’s here, the creativity and quality are the corner stone for the brand.  For each season’s collection months are spent on everything from meticulously designing the new frames to finding the absolute perfect acetate which will be exclusive to the collection. A perfect example of this are the particular multi-color styles crafted from vintage acetate from the 1980’s. So while all his pieces are in limited supply, these frames even more so, because once gone it is not possible to make more!   The brands charm and style even extends to the frames names, all of which end in a “y” to mimic the ending of his first and last name.  So styles include unique names such as “Attracty”,” Lively”, “Abusy”…
