A limited Custom Project brought to you by Eyegoodies Lab, we are proud to present: BLACK ICE.

This Eyegoodies Custom Project uses some of the most technically advanced lenses on the planet: Black polarized lenses, made by the world-renowned Japanese lens maker Nikon. The lenses are then finished with a custom multilayer Black Ice mirror to provide the sharpest visual acuity in even the harshest conditions.

The Polarized Black Ice Mirror lenses are edged in house to our exacting standards into three of our favorite frames, creating this exclusive custom pack. Each frame was specifically chosen for its distinct aesthetic.

A limited edition released nearly a decade ago for Paul Smith’s Runway and instantly sold out. We kept some pairs in the Eyegoodies Vault for a special occasion such as this.

Perfect whether you’re exploring city streets or mountain peaks, the Alrick is a flawlessly executed and substantial piece of eyewear. Handmade in Italy, the perfectly proportioned matte black-on-black frame features black Italian leather side-shields at the temples, as well as an Italian black leather cover over its double-bridge. It is then elevated with custom Polarized Black Ice Mirror lenses.

A frame that needs little introduction, the Persol 714 is one of the most iconic sunglasses ever produced. The pioneering foldable frame was made legendary by the “King of Cool”, the late Steve McQueen. The 714SM (Steve McQueen) limited edition, was a special release by Persol to pay tribute.

There are a couple key and cool distinctions between the 714 and the limited 714SM, most notably:  the 1960’s era inwards folding hinges which showcase the signature Persol double arrow on the temples.

We couldn’t think of a better backdrop for this Eyegoodies Custom Project. We took the versatile all black frames, and brought them into the 21st century with our Polarized custom Black Ice Mirror lenses.

Garrett Leight California Optical, as the name suggests, is designed in California, with the signature laid back spirit we have come to love. However,  its not just for locals. Highlighted in the Holiday 2017/18 collection, is that it’s designed for everyone, all face shapes and sizes, skin tones, and genders. Simply put, the frames work on just about everyone who puts them on.

This season, as Garrett notes, is

“Inspired by Prince, an artist who mixed masculine and feminine as fluidly as musical genres, we created styles in different shapes that look good on both men and women, offered in multiple sizes for the perfect fit in everyone, and in a diverse mix of colors just like us.”

There is a wide assortment of new sun, optical, and clip-on styles added to the lineup. Each design showcases their own fresh eclectic details, unique finishes, and colorways that help define the season.

Some of our favorites include the timeless Penmar and Garfield. A rounded and squared design that mixes acetate and metal in new ways, and come complete with Garrett Leight’s signature clip in complimentary tones. Everything about these just feels substantial and rich.

Available both in their iconic aviator and the new P3 Shadow frame styles. Studies have shown blue lenses to have a calming effect on the wearer, the grey blue tint enhances contours around objects and reduces glare. This ease in viewing experience seems to invoke less stress on the eye for longer time wear.

Additionally a hydrophobic coating was added to the blue glass lenses. Hydrophobic simply defined means “afraid of water.” The specially designed coating facilitates the run-off of water droplets from the lens surface whether from sweat or from an aqueous environment or in the rain. The coating also lends itself to the aid of cleaning your glasses making it quicker and easier to remove smudges. Also worth noting, the lenses have a back-side anti reflective coating to eliminate distracting bounce back glare.

Porsche Design since its inception has been renowned for both innovation and luxury. Now new for 2015 comes the latest icon to join their ranks, we present the P’8613 sunglasses.

The P’8613 aviator is a unisex design, that comes with two sets of interchangeable lenses that are easily switched in and out in seconds. One set that is rimmed in acetate and one standard – providing two distinct looks.  Handmade in Japan and made of ultra-light ultra-strong titanium, nothing was spared in their meticulous construction. It is available in two colorways: a gold frame with havana rimmed brown lenses + light blue flash mirror lenses. As well as a matte black frame with black rimmed silver mirror lenses + brown lenses.

Staying true to their California roots, the range is designed with sundrenched weekends in mind.

Super sunglasses new Summer 2014 “Motorpsycho” collection is now available.

An eclectic ode to the rebel. —The collection draws on influences from 1970’s biker culture and psychedelics.  We see intricate brazen gold detailing, new use of mirrored lenses, reinterpreted classics, and wild new acetates.

All frames are handmade in Italy and feature Carl Zeiss or Barberini tempered glass lenses. Some of the pieces are highly limited.

This technique of mirroring only the top portion of the lens allows you to cross various terrains under strong sunlight, by blocking the direct glare coming from above.  While the base Carl Zeiss brown lenses provide excellent contrast.

Australian based Ksubi Eyewear is back with their new Summer 2014 collection, and their signature avante-garde aesthetic. Their new range entitled “REPLICANTS” embraces the duality of their contrasting and seemingly polarizing influences: street and luxury, minimalism and baroque, antique and post-modern.
