The Garrett Leight California Optical (GLCO) Spring Summer 2012 collection is now available.
Garrett Leight takes us on an exploration of the California mountains in search of the sun and to present his latest Summer 2012 offering. A fitting backdrop for a collection which shows great range and creatively utilizes an array of textures, colors, and materials.
The collection encompasses a variety of distinct new styles. From pieces inspired by classic mid-century design to chic oversized styles for women, each of which has that signature clean GLCO aesthetic we can’t get enough of. The palette includes a host of rich sophisticated colors, including some cool and unique complimentary color pairings, such as: Crystal paired with Aquamarine temples or a Matte Black front paired with “Matte Spotted Tortoise” temples and antique gold metal (one of our favorite combos).
As always each is style is perfectly executed using the best materials, notable technical features include: Italian or Japanese aged acetate, real hand-drilled riveted hinges plated in gold and silver for strength/durability, and American Glass lenses with a back anti-reflective coating for superb optics.
The Harrison is a smaller round frame inspired by one of the most classic British designs of all time. Originally it was given out as a British health insurance frame to English patients with poor vision. The GLCO sunglass version offers a bit of a twist by adding a metal top bar and mixing antique gold and silver within intricate metal filigree detail. Additionally, Italian Windsor rims were sourced for authenticity.
The Westminster is the progression of a squared off classic mid-century American design. Presented here with no detail spared, it features: American glass lenses, antiqued gold and silver plaques, and hand drilled riveted hinges.
One of those staple pieces every lady needs; a slightly wrapped, large, and universally flattering shape well suited to keep the sun (and world) out. Garrett Leight describes the Amoroso as “a glamorous frame inspired by 70’s disco with colors that truly represent California. Original Italian plastic custom made in the colors Tangerine, Sangria, and Aquamarine.”
The GLCO Nowita is made with custom laminated Italian acetate in a fun loving and fashion forward round oversized women’s sunglass. It is offered in a variety unique delectable two tone acetates.
The Rialto is now offered in a new subtle color perfectly named by GLCO as “Sea Blue Drift”.
The GLCO Wilson is inspired by the classic British Health Insurance frame worn by The Beatles John Lennon. None of the originality in the technical design of this frame was spared. Original Italian Windsor rims, detailed metal filigree, mixed antiqued metal is representative of the true spirit of this timeless British classic.
The Westminster is the progression of a squared off classic mid-century American design. Authentically constructed with antiqued gold and silver plaques, hand drilled riveted hinges, and custom GLCO details.
